Dr David Masip Rodó
David Masip is a professor at the UOC's Faculty of Arts and Humanities and director of the doctoral programme in the Information and Knowledge Society. He is also a member of the Language, Culture and Identity in the Global Age (IdentiCat) research group. His research work focuses on language uses and their significance in identity-building processes and their implications for access to symbolic and economic resources. He has performed studies on the use of Catalan among young people, immigrants and in the business world, and also on topics related with multilingualism and gender. In addition, he is currently vice-president of the European COST network on new speakers in multilingual Europe and director of a research project on this group, that is, people who regularly use languages of which they are not native speakers.
