Doctoral Programme in Society, Technology and Culture
Itinerary and Duration
The maximum duration is 3 years for full-time study and 5 years for part-time study, between the time the doctoral candidate is admitted to the programme and their presentation of their doctoral thesis. Maternity or paternity leave and long-term sick leave that the programme's Academic Committee considers appropriate is not included when calculating this period.
However, the Academic Committee may authorize an extension of this period by the maximum periods allowed in the relevant legislation, and under the conditions determined by the doctoral programme concerned.
A personalized activity report is created for each student after enrolment on the programme. This document contains all the activities established by the Academic Committee for the doctoral candidate's development.
Before the end of the first year, students must submit a research plan that includes the methodology used and the objectives that they wish to achieve, as well as the means and timeframe for producing the thesis.
Each year, the programme's Academic Committee assesses each doctoral candidate's research plan and activity report, together with the reports issued by the tutor, thesis supervisor and the other members of the thesis supervision committee. A favourable assessment of the plan is an essential requirement for continuing on the programme.
