Introduction to teaching and learning languages online (6 ECTS).

  1. Understanding needs analysis and elaborating tools to identify student needs.
  2. Analysis of learning styles and adaptation of pedagogical materials.
  3. Identifying teaching methods and technological tools and how to choose the most suitable ones depending on the students.
  4. Identifying different assessment methods depending on teaching methodology and technological tools


Task-based language teaching (6 ECTS).

  1. Situate TBLT on the landscape of teaching methodologies and approaches.
  2. Articulate theoretical underpinnings and core principles of TBLT.
  3. Identify the needs of a particular community of language learners by means of a needs analysis.
  4. Apply the underlying principles of task-based teaching to the design of TBLT pedagogical  units. 

 
Content and language integrated learning (CLIL) (6 ECTS).

  1. Origins of CLIL, the similarities and differences between CLIL and other methodologies (e.g.,  bilingual education), and its advantages and drawbacks.
  2. Principles of planning a lesson and building up a teaching sequence in CLIL. Critical analysis of CLIL materials and design of original CLIL materials
  3. Using technology in a CLIL classroom, ICT tools in a CLIL classroom, and massive online open courses (MOOCs) in CLIL.
  4. Techniques and tools teachers can use to ensure the development of learners' language skills in CLIL. Design and implementation of an observation tool focusing on a specific aspect of language learning in CLIL
